Those Were The Days...

SEA OPERATION TEAM 2

1st Row: Kester, Sohn, K9, Aaron, Elton, Colin
2nd Row: K10, Gideon, Yongxin, YewMun, Jingming, Jason, Koh Guan
3rd Row: Cao, Nyuk, myself, Benedict, Laihock, GuanKwee, Yongbin

This pic was taken during my platoon chalet. It was also my last few days in camp. Looking at it really brought back memories.

These men went through thick and thin and ruled the sea with me. Coming from all sorts of backgrounds, I got to know them well. They endured my frequent naggings and of course pushups. Though uncooperative at times but nontheless, I protected them like some rare gem. Always covering up for the by left stuff that they did and getting scolded by CSM for their crap. Dunno why I did that. Just thought I had to cos they are my men. It was actually then that I realised "others before self". Never in my life felt like that before though.

Time really flies. It seemed as though it was yesterday that I just entered Changi Defence Squadron. Undergoing horrendous running and swimming regime and endless standby beds. Then came the time I entered BSC to do duty with SEDET 2. In a few months, I was off to SSLC with more running and swimming. And back I was at BSC. RHIBS course was up next. More shit to do with the rooftop on ur shoulders upon promotion. And in no time off I went with my Pink IC back into the civilian world.

Thanks guys for making my NS life such a wonderful time.

After work run...

From Lorong Ah Soo, to Bowen Secondary, all the way to Jalan Kayu and finally Seletar Camp.

All in all 15km completed.

Damn I love the shagged out feeling.

2 weeks to Standard Chartered. Hopefully I've done enough training for the 42.195km.

Tmr, Speed training =)

Run-A-Movie...

Met up with Dan, Junxian and KayYong for a 8km run at ECP. This charitable run was organized by some church. Had to pay 10bucks for registration. And being typical Singaporean, I just crashed in without paying a single cent.

I must say all those long distance runs after work really made this 8km seemed really short. The run to the turning point seemed slightly longer. Probably due to your state of mind not knowing when the turning point will be. It was relatively faster once you hit the round a bout.

Well I completed the run at a relatively relax pace, say about 85%, without taking breakfast, no stretching or warmup. Timing was satisfying though. I clocked 37mins 12s for 8km.

So if you do the maths, thats about 46mins 30s for 1okm. Not a bad pace though. Of course this isnt the best of all gauges considering the fact that I haven included fatigue and hopefully not, toilet break.

Quite a good motivational run just before Standard Chartered which will be on the 2nd Dec 2007. Hopefully, I will be able to complete the race without stopping in 5hrs or less.

Till then, more runs more run!

Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence...

Finally my long awaited powerboat licence!

With only 10 out of 20 points, I got my powerboat licence. I can officially drive a leisure craft! I must say it has been one long wait for it man.

First Boat Test
1) No pre sea check
2) Too slow
3) 2 failed alongside

Overall Result = FAIL

Second Boat Test
1) Went at 1330h instead of 1130h
2) Waited till 1530h before realising we went the wrong time (What a loser!)
3) Went NUH to get MC which cost $160
4) Almost got an injection for trying to chaokeng with a headache

Overall Result = FAIL +++ (look at point 3 and that explains the +++)

Third Boat Test
1) 1 failed and 1 successful man over board drill (9points)
2) Perfect alongside
3) Itchy fingers playing with trottle (1point)
4) Perfect ROR recital
5) Last but not least telling the tester after he signed my passing paper that I drive the RHIBS in the NAVY and seeing his pissed off reaction (he wanted to fail me after hearing that)

Overall Result = PASSED!

New Year 2007

Well my New Year 2007 Resolutions.
1) Finish studying "A" level chem and start on Uni Chem.
2) Get my driving and powerboat licence.
3) Complete a Marathon in 4 hrs without stopping.
4) Save $$$

Well I started with point 1, point 2 is achieved, point 3 can only be achieved on Dec 2nd however 4 hours maybe a lil ambitious so I'll change it to 5hrs; and last but not least point 4 is completed.

I must say this year is pretty fufilling.
After so many years of just listing some new year resolution, I finally did something. And boy it does feel good having achieved something =)
